Meet Sal
Sal Quintero was born and raised in Fresno. At the age of 3 years old Sal and his family moved into District 3. Sal attended Fresno schools and graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School. After school, Sal worked odd jobs including his uncle's grocery store, Hernandez Market in CALWA. His experiences growing up gave Sal a deep appreciation for Fresno's diverse community, its rich history, and its bright future.
After attending Fresno City College in 1968, Sal was employed by Berven Rug Mills in its Varidye Division. He was promoted to the position of foreman, supervising approximately 120 employees. In 1974, Sal decided to open a small business with his brother John, owning commercial property, and apartments. In 1984, Sal started his own marketing consulting company, focusing on non-profit health centers, ballot initiatives, and political campaigns.
In 1995, Sal was elected to the Fresno City Council, representing District 5. He served the people of Southeast Fresno for eight years. Sal served two 4-year terms and in 1997, Sal was elected the first Council President under Fresno City's newly formed city's strong Mayor form of Government. After his terms ended, in 2003 Sal, continued to serve as Chief of Staff to the new City Councilmember for District 5. In the 2010 Sal ran again for his old seat and was elected and four years later won his re-election in 2014. In 2016, after being encouraged by friends, family and supporters, Sal ran for the Fresno County Board of Supervisors and was elected. He began serving on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, District 3 on January 3, 2017.
Sal has a proven record of success and continues to work hard to make a difference in District 3. His passion for the people of District 3 is reflected in his willingness listen to the people and goes leaves no stone unturned to help solve their issues.
